Abstract

A method for producing a cyan liquid electrophotographic ink composition includes: dispersing in a first portion of carrier fluid cyan pigment particles and inorganic spacer particles, the inorganic spacer particles having a particle size (d50) of 0.1 µm or less, such that the inorganic spacer particles adhere to the cyan pigment particles; heating a polymer resin in a second portion of carrier fluid to dissolve the polymer resin; adding the dispersion of the cyan pigment particles having the inorganic spacer particles adhered thereto in the first portion of carrier fluid to the dissolved polymer resin in the second portion of carrier fluid; cooling the carrier fluid at a controlled rate to effect precipitation of the polymer resin from the carrier fluid such that a coating of the resin is formed on the cyan pigment particles having the inorganic spacer particles adhered thereto, thereby producing the cyan liquid electrophotographic ink composition.

L'invention concerne un procédé pour la production d'une composition d'encre électrophotographique liquide cyan, comprenant : la dispersion dans une première partie de fluide vecteur de particules de pigment cyan et de particules d'espaceur inorganique, les particules d'espaceur inorganique ayant une taille de particule (d50) inférieure ou égale à 0,1 µm, de façon telle que les particules d'espaceur inorganique adhèrent aux particules de pigment cyan ; le chauffage d'une résine de polymère dans une seconde partie de fluide vecteur pour dissoudre la résine de polymère ; l'ajout de la dispersion des particules de pigment cyan sur lesquelles les particules d'espaceur inorganique adhèrent dans la première partie de fluide vecteur à la résine de polymère dissoute dans la seconde partie de fluide vecteur ; le refroidissement du fluide vecteur à une vitesse réglée pour effectuer la précipitation de la résine polymère dans le fluide vecteur de façon telle qu'un revêtement de la résine est formé sur les particules de pigment cyan sur lesquelles les particules d'espaceur inorganique adhèrent, ce qui permet de produire la composition d'encre électrophotographique liquide cyan.
