This optical device according to one embodiment comprises: a first substrate; a second substrate opposing the first substrate; an intermediate layer that is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate and that is in close contact with the first substrate and the second substrate; and a light source that projects light to a lateral surface of the first substrate and/or the second substrate. The refractive index of the intermediate layer is smaller in the center region thereof in the layering direction of the first substrate and the second substrate than near the interface between the intermediate layer and the first substrate and the second substrate.

Ce dispositif optique selon un mode de réalisation comprend : un premier substrat ; un second substrat opposé au premier substrat ; une couche intermédiaire qui est disposée entre le premier substrat et le second substrat et qui est en contact étroit avec le premier substrat et le second substrat ; et une source de lumière qui projette de la lumière sur une surface latérale du premier substrat et/ou du second substrat.
