A process for recovering nitric acid or salts thereof, comprising: contacting, in the presence of water, an water-immiscible ionic liquid of the formula [A+][X-], wherein [A+] represents a phosphonium or ammonium cation and [X-] represents a counter anion which is NCtA an halide anion displaceable by NO3-, or both, with a fluid which contains HNO3 and at least one more mineral acid, or precursors of said acids, and partition, under mixing, said acids between aqueous and organic phases and form nitrate-loaded ionic liquid of the formula [A+][NO3-]z>o.25 where Z indicates a molar amount of nitrate held in the ionic liquid beyond the positions occupied by the nitrate counter ions; separating the so-formed mixture into an organic phase comprising a nitrate-loaded ionic liquid of the formula [A+][NC3-]z>O.25 and an aqueous phase consisting of a nitrate- depleted aqueous solution that contains the other mineral acid(s); stripping the nitric acid from said nitrate-loaded ionic liquid to create an aqueous nitrate solution and regenerate ionic liquid of the formula [A+][NO3-]z≥o with reduced nitrate loading, or unloaded [A+][NO3-]z=o ionic liquid.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de récupération d'acide nitrique ou de sels associés, consistant à : mettre en contact, en présence d'eau, un liquide ionique non miscible à l'eau de formule [A+][X-], dans laquelle [A+] représente un cation phosphonium ou ammonium et [X-] représente un contre-anion qui est un NO3-, un anion halogénure pouvant être déplacé par NO3 -, ou les deux, avec un fluide qui contient du HNO3 et au moins un acide minéral supplémentaire, ou des précurseurs desdits acides, et partager, sous agitation, lesdits acides entre des phases aqueuses et organiques et former un liquide ionique chargé en nitrate de formule [A+][NO3 -] Z > 0,25, dans laquelle Z représente une quantité molaire de nitrate contenu dans le liquide ionique au-delà des positions occupées par les contre-ions nitrate; séparer le mélange ainsi formé en une phase organique comprenant un liquide ionique chargé en nitrate de formule [A+][NO3 -] Z > 0,25 et une phase aqueuse constituée d'une solution aqueuse appauvrie en nitrate qui contient le ou les autres acides minéraux; enlever l'acide nitrique contenu dans ledit liquide ionique chargé en nitrate pour créer une solution aqueuse de nitrate et régénérer le liquide ionique de formule [A+][NO3-] Z ≥ 0 avec une charge de nitrate réduite, ou un liquide ionique de formule [A+][NO3 -] Z = 0 non chargé.
