Abstract

The ballistic protection device (23) comprises ballistic protection (1) or ballistic overprotection (5) formed from at least two perforated plates (6) made of ballistic steel, each having openings (7), the length (L) of which is at least three times greater than their width (l). Said perforated plates are superposed and parallel such that the solid portion (8) of a perforated plate (6) partially covers the openings (7) of the next perforated plate (6). Two successive perforated plates are mutually offset linearly in the direction of the width of the openings (7), possibly also in the direction of their length. The linear offset of the perforated plates advantageously makes it possible to benefit from a rim effect provided in particular in order to destabilize and break up piercing projectiles in order to stop them more easily. The deformation and breaking of the perforated plates makes it possible, in particular, to stop projectiles of the artillery splinter type.

Le dispositif de protection balistique (23) comprend une protection balistique (1) ou une surprotection balistique (5) formée d'au moins deux plaques perforées (6) en acier balistique, présentant chacune des lumières (7) dont la longueur (L) est au moins trois fois supérieure à leur largeur (l). Lesdites plaques perforées sont superposées et parallèles de sorte que la partie pleine (8) d'une plaque perforée (6) recouvre partiellement les lumières (7) de la plaque perforée (6) suivante. Deux plaques perforées successives sont mutuellement décalées linéairement dans le sens de la largeur des lumières (7), éventuellement aussi dans le sens de la longueur. Le décalage linéaire des plaques perforées permet avantageusement de bénéficier d'un effet de rebord prévu notamment pour déstabiliser et casser les projectiles perforants afin de les stopper plus facilement. La déformation et la rupture des plaques perforées permet notamment d'arrêter les projectiles de type éclats d'artillerie.
