A method for motion compensated prediction, the method comprising determining a motion vector for a block of samples;determining a sub-sample accurate horizontal component and a sub-sample accurate vertical component of said motion vector;determining fractional parts of said sub-sample accurate horizontal and vertical motion vector components;determining interpolation filter length and interpolation filter based on said fractional parts; applying said interpolation filter with determined length to perform a filtering operation at least in either horizontal or vertical direction; and storing the result of said filtering operation as the motion compensated prediction with said motion vector.

L'invention concerne un procédé de prédiction à compensation de mouvement, le procédé comprenant les étapes consistant à déterminer un vecteur de mouvement pour un bloc d'échantillons ; déterminer un composant horizontal précis de sous-échantillon et un composant vertical précis de sous-échantillon dudit vecteur de mouvement ; déterminer des parties fractionnaires desdits composants de vecteur de mouvement horizontal et vertical précis de sous-échantillon ; déterminer une longueur de filtre d'interpolation et un filtre d'interpolation sur la base desdites parties fractionnaires ; appliquer ledit filtre d'interpolation avec une longueur déterminée pour effectuer une opération de filtrage au moins dans une direction horizontale ou verticale ; et stocker le résultat de ladite opération de filtrage en tant que prédiction à compensation de mouvement avec ledit vecteur de mouvement.
