Method of controlling the steering operations of an articulated wheel loader (1) having a front body portion (2) provided with a bucket (3) and having a couple of front wheels (4) and a rear body portion (6) connected in a pivoting manner with the front body portion (2) and provided with a couple of rear wheels (8), the method comprising the steps of: providing a steering command to steer the wheel loader (1) that proceeds in a forward direction or in a rear direction; detecting (12) the angle (α) that a front longitudinal axis (F) of the front body portion (2) forms with a rear longitudinal axis (R) of the rear body portion (6); in the case that the measured angle (α) is greater than a threshold (αMAX) automatically implementing a steering brake function wherein one wheel (4, 8) of the front body portion (2) or of the rear body portion (6) is independently braked to reduce its speed to zero so that the wheel becomes a pivot point during to cornering in order to minimize the turning radius.

Un procédé de commande des opérations de direction d'une chargeuse sur roues articulées (1) ayant une partie de corps avant (2) pourvue d'un godet (3) et ayant une paire de roues avant (4) et une partie de corps arrière (6) reliées de manière pivotante à la partie de corps avant (2) et pourvue d'une paire de roues arrière (8), le procédé comprenant les étapes consistant à : fournir une commande de direction pour diriger la chargeuse sur roues (1) qui se déroule dans une direction avant ou dans une direction arrière ; détecter (12) l'angle (α) qu'un axe longitudinal avant (F) de la partie de corps avant (2) forme avec un axe longitudinal arrière (R) de la partie de corps arrière (6) ; dans le cas où l'angle mesuré (α) est supérieur à un seuil (αMAX), mettre en œuvre automatiquement une fonction de frein de direction dans laquelle une roue (4, 8) de la partie de corps avant (2) ou de la partie de corps arrière (6) est freinée indépendamment pour réduire sa vitesse à zéro, de telle sorte que la roue devient un point de pivotement pendant un virage afin de réduire au minimum le rayon de braquage.
