The invention relates to a rotary electric machine (1) comprising a stator (2) and a rotor (4) that is rotatable about an axis of rotation (O), the rotary electric machine (1) comprising a cooling device (6) at the periphery of the stator (2) and of the rotor (4), the cooling device (6) extending circumferentially around the axis of rotation (O) and comprising an inner wall (14) and an outer wall (16), the inner wall (14) and the outer wall (16) defining at least in part an internal volume (18) in which a cooling fluid circulates, the internal volume (18) being defined by a first thickness (52) measured at a first axial end (54) of the cooling device (6) and by a second thickness (56) measured at a second axial end (58) of the cooling device (6), characterized in that the first thickness (52) and the second thickness (56) are different.
