Described is a process for producing 1-(4-isobutylphenyl)ethanol by reacting 1-(4-isobutyl- phenyl)ethanone with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst composition comprising cop- per and one or more metals other than copper, and a use of a respective composition and/or of a pre-composition, the pre-composition comprising a mixture of oxides of copper and oxides of one or more metals other than copper, in a catalytic hydrogenation process for producing 1-(4-isobutylphenyl)ethanol from 1-(4-isobutylphenyl)ethanone.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production de 1-(4-isobutylphényle)éthanol par la mise en réaction du 1-(4-isobutyl-phényl)éthanone avec de l'hydrogène en présence d'une composition de catalyseur comprenant du cuivre et d'un ou de plusieurs métaux autres que le cuivre, ainsi que l'utilisation d'une composition respective et/ou d'une pré-composition, la pré-composition comprenant un mélange d'oxydes de cuivre et d'oxydes d'un ou de plusieurs métaux autres que le cuivre, dans un procédé d'hydrogénation catalytique pour la production de 1-(4-isobutylphényle)éthanol à partir de 1-(4-isobutylphényle)éthanone.
