Abstract

An exhaust gas treatment apparatus (20; 50) comprises at least one gas permeable body (10A, 10B; 60), which may comprise an SCR catalyst, and a mechanism (40; 70) for diverting the flow of exhaust gas (G) selectively to a first region (10A; 61) and then to a second region (10B; 62) of the body, the regions defining different portions of the section area of the body normal to the flow direction (El). The flow may be directed exclusively to each of the first and second regions in turn until each region reaches its operating temperature, and then divided between the first and second regions. Alternatively the first and second regions may be thermally coupled and the flow directed to the first region and then divided between both regions after the first region (10A; 61) has reached its operating temperature.

L'invention concerne un appareil de traitement de gaz d'échappement (20 ; 50) comprenant au moins un corps perméable aux gaz (10A, 10B ; 60) qui peut comprendre un catalyseur de réduction catalytique sélective, et un mécanisme (40 ; 70) pour dévier le flux de gaz d'échappement (G) de manière sélective à une première région (10A ; 61) puis à une seconde région (10B ; 62) du corps, les régions définissant différentes parties de la zone de section du corps perpendiculaire à la direction de flux (El). Le flux peut être dirigé exclusivement vers chacune des première et seconde régions à tour de rôle jusqu'à ce que chaque région atteigne sa température de fonctionnement, puis divisé entre les première et seconde régions. En variante, les première et seconde régions peuvent être couplées thermiquement et le flux dirigé vers la première région et ensuite divisé entre les deux régions après que la première région (10A ; 61) a atteint sa température de fonctionnement.
