CLAIMS

What is claimed is:

1. An antenna assembly, comprising:

an antenna array;

a dielectric cover; and

a superstrate metal patch with coupling lines, the superstrate metal patch with coupling lines placed under the dielectric cover and above the antenna array.

2. The antenna assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the antenna array is a 5G mmWave antenna array, and the dielectric cover is a glass dielectric cover.

3. The antenna assembly according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the superstrate metal patch and the coupling lines are connected on a same layer, and the coupling lines are extended from the superstrate metal patch.

4. The antenna assembly according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the superstrate metal patch comprises more than one metal patches, each of the more than one metal patches is a square, and each coupling line is straight.

5. The antenna assembly according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the antenna array includes four connected antennas, the superstrate metal patch with coupling lines includes four metal patches, each metal patch is placed above a corresponding antenna, the coupling lines includes six pairs of coupling lines, and each pair of coupling lines have the same length.

The antenna assembly according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein each antenna of the antenna array is about 2.4 square millimeters (mm2), each metal patch of the superstrate metal patch is about 4.5 mm2 and has a thickness less than 1 mm, a gap height between an antenna and a corresponding metal patch is about 0.5 mm, and each coupling line of the coupling lines has a thickness of about 0.5 mm and a length between 3 mm and 7 mm.

7. The antenna assembly according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the superstate metal patch with coupling lines is placed about l/2 above the antenna array, and l is wavelength of operating frequency of the antenna array.

8. An electronic device, comprising:

a non-transitory memory storage;

one or more hardware processors;

an antenna array;

a dielectric cover; and

a superstate metal patch with coupling lines, the superstate metal patch with coupling lines placed under the dielectric cover and above the antenna array.

9. The electonic device according to claim 8, wherein the antenna array is a 5G mmWave antenna array, and the dielectric cover is a glass dielectric cover.

10. The electronic device according to claim 8 or 9, wherein the superstate metal patch and the coupling lines are connected on a same layer, and the coupling lines are extended from the superstate metal patch.

11. The electonic device according to any one of claims 8 to 10, wherein the superstate metal patch comprises more than one metal patches, each of the more than one metal patches is a square, and each coupling line is straight.

12. The electronic device according to any one of claims 8 to 11, wherein the antenna array includes four connected antennas, the superstate metal patch with coupling lines includes four metal patches, each metal patch is placed above a corresponding antenna, the coupling lines includes six pairs of coupling lines, and each pair of coupling lines have the same length.

13. The electronic device according to any one of claims 8 to 12, wherein each antenna of the antenna array is about 2.4 square millimeters (mm2), each metal patch of the superstate metal patch is about 4.5 mm2 and has a thickness less than 1 mm, a gap height between an antenna and a corresponding metal patch is about 0.5 mm, and each coupling line of the coupling lines has a thickness of about 0.5 mm and a length between 3 mm and 7 mm.

14. The electronic device according to any one of claims 8 to 13, wherein the superstate metal patch with coupling lines is placed about l/2 above the antenna array, and l is wavelength of operating frequency of the antenna array.
