Systems and methods are provided for using fuel cell staging to reduce or minimize variations in current density when operating molten carbonate fuel cells with elevated CO2 utilization. The fuel cell staging can mitigate the amount of alternative ion transport that occurs when operating molten carbonate fuel cells under conditions for elevated CO2 utilization.

L'invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés visant à utiliser un étagement de piles à combustible pour réduire ou minimiser les variations de densité de courant lors du fonctionnement de piles à combustible à carbonate fondu utilisant une grande quantité de CO2. L'étagement des piles à combustible peut atténuer l'intensité de transport d'autres ions qui se produit lors du fonctionnement de piles à combustible à carbonates fondus dans des conditions permettant une grande utilisation de CO2.
