Cathode collector structures and/or corresponding cathode structures are provided that can allow for improved operation for a molten carbonate fuel cell when operated under conditions for elevated CO2 utilization. A cathode collector structure that provides an increased open area at the cathode surface can reduce or minimize the amount of alternative ion transport that occurs within the fuel cell. Additionally or alternately, grooves in the cathode surface can be used to increase the open area.

L'invention concerne des structures de collecteur de cathode et/ou des structures de cathode correspondantes qui permettent un fonctionnement amélioré d'une pile à combustible à carbonate fondu lorsqu'elle est utilisée dans des conditions permettant une utilisation élevée du CO2. Une structure de collecteur de cathode qui fournit une zone ouverte augmentée au niveau de la surface de cathode peut réduire ou minimiser la quantité de transport d'ions alternatif qui se produit à l'intérieur de la pile à combustible.
