Abstract

A method of altering a secondary air system to reduce over-heating of a rotor (150) of a gas turbine (100) is provided. The method may be accomplished while maintaining the placement of the rotor (150) as installed (340) in the gas turbine (100). The steps of the method include removing all combustion system baskets and transitions, drilling at least one hole (180) in a compressor exit diffuser (126), installing a plug (200) through the at least one access hole (190), and closing the at least one access hole (190). A spring-loaded plug (200) for plugging a hole (180) in a gas turbine (100) is also provided. The spring-loaded plug (200) includes a cylindrical base (202) and a cap (204) that fits tightly over the cylindrical base (202). A spring (206, 208) is attached between the cap (204) and the base (202) and is compressed prior to installation of the plug (200) within the hole (180) and released during installation so that the plug (200) orients itself within and engages the hole (180).

La présente invention concerne un procédé de modification d'un système d'air secondaire pour réduire le surchauffage d'un rotor (150) d'une turbine à gaz (100). Le procédé peut être réalisé tout en maintenant le placement du rotor (150) tel qu'installé (340) dans la turbine à gaz (100). Les étapes du procédé consistent à supprimer tous les paniers et transitions du système de combustion, à forer au moins un trou (180) dans un diffuseur de sortie de compresseur (126), à installer un bouchon (200) à travers le ou les trous d'accès (190) et à fermer le ou les trous d'accès (190). La présente invention porte également sur un bouchon à ressort (200) destinée à boucher un trou (180) dans une turbine à gaz (100). Le bouchon à ressort (200) comprend une base cylindrique (202) et un capuchon (204) qui s'ajuste étroitement sur la base cylindrique (202). Un ressort (206, 208) est fixé entre le capuchon (204) et la base (202) et est comprimé avant l'installation du bouchon (200) à l'intérieur du trou (180) et libéré pendant l'installation de telle sorte que le bouchon (200) s'oriente à l'intérieur du trou (180) et vient en prise avec celui-ci.
