Abstract

A glass composition comprising: AI2O3, ZnO, and SiO2; TiO2, in the amount of at least 10 mol% and not greater than 20 mol%; and alkaline metal oxide selected from the group consisting of MgO, CaO, SrO, BaO, or any combination thereof, such that the molar sum of MgO, CaO, SrO, BaO, and ZnO, in the amount in the glass composition is least 20 mol% and not greater than 35 mol%, and such that: the amount of BaO is 0 to 10 mol%; the amount of MgO is 0 to 10 mol% the amount of CaO is 0 to 10 mol%, and the molar sum of CaO and MgO in the glass composition is less than 12.5 mol%; and rare earth metal oxides (ΣREmOn), in the amount of at least 1.5 mol% and not greater than 10 mol%; alkali metal oxides (ΣAlk2O), in the amount of greater than or equal to 0 mol% and less than or equal to 5 mol%; and not greater than 5 mol% of other components; and wherein -5 mol% ≤ AI2O3 (mol%) - 1.5 ΣREmOn (mol%) - ΣAlk2O (mol%) ≤ +5 mol%.

La présente invention concerne une composition de verre comprenant : de l'Al2O3, du ZnO et du SiO2 ; du TiO2, à raison d'au moins 10 % en moles, mais pas plus de 20 % en moles ; et un oxyde de métal alcalin choisi dans le groupe constitué par le MgO, le CaO, le SrO, le BaO, ou une quelconque combinaison de ceux-ci, de telle sorte que la somme molaire de MgO, CaO, SrO, BaO et ZnO dans la composition de verre est au moins égale à 20 % en moles, mais pas supérieure à 35 % en moles, et de telle sorte que : la quantité de BaO varie de 0 à 10 % en moles ; la quantité de MgO varie de 0 à 10 % en moles ; la quantité de CaO varie de 0 à 10 % en moles, et la somme molaire de CaO et MgO dans la composition de verre est inférieure à 12,5 % en moles ; et des oxydes métalliques de terres rares (ΣREmOn), à raison d'au moins 1,5 % en moles et pas plus de 10 % en moles ; des oxydes de métaux alcalins (ΣAlk2O), à raison d'au moins 0 % en moles, mais pas plus de 5 % en moles ; et pas plus de 5 % en moles d'autres composants ; et -5 % en moles ≤ AI2O3 (% en moles ) -1 ,5 ΣREmOn (% en moles) -ΣAlk2O (% en moles) ≤ +5 % en moles.
