Disclosed is a display device comprising a display, a communication unit, and at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor: identifies at least one external device connected through the communication unit; controls the display device so that an external device control screen image including identification information about the at least one external device and state information about the at least one external device is displayed on the display of the display device in response to the reception, through the communication unit, of a first input from a control device for controlling the display device, and the display device also enters a power-saving mode from a normal mode; and controls the display device so that the display device enters the normal mode from the power-saving mode in response to the reception of a second input from the control device during the displaying of the external device control screen image.
