A method for manufacturing a glass plate, which includes carrying out the shape processing of an edge face of a disk-like glass plate, wherein the disk-like glass plate has a main surface and an edge face perpendicular to the main surface. The method includes the step of processing the edge face into a desired shape by irradiating the edge face with laser light while moving the laser light relatively to the disk-like glass plate in the circumferential direction of the disk-like glass plate with respect to the edge face. The cross-sectional intensity distribution of the laser light to be emitted onto the edge face is in a single mode, and the requirement represented by the formula: W1 > Th is satisfied and the Pd×Th value is 0.8 to 3.5 [W/mm] wherein W1 [mm] represents the width of a light flux of the laser light, as observed in the direction of the thickness of the glass plate, at an irradiation position on the edge face, Th [mm] represents the thickness of the glass plate, and Pd represents the power density of the laser light.

L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'une plaque de verre, qui comprend la réalisation du traitement de forme d'une face de bord d'une plaque de verre de type disque, la plaque de verre de type disque présentant une surface principale et une face de bord perpendiculaire à la surface principale. Le procédé comprend l'étape consistant à traiter la face de bord en une forme souhaitée par irradiation de la face de bord avec une lumière laser tout en déplaçant la lumière laser par rapport à la plaque de verre de type disque dans la direction circonférentielle de la plaque de verre de type disque par rapport à la face de bord.
