[Problem] To provide a material for forming a liquid crystal alignment film that enables a low-temperature firing, provides a highly efficient alignment control performance, and has a wide range for the optimal polarized ultraviolet irradiation dose. [Solution] Provided is a liquid crystal alignment agent comprising, as a component (A), a polymer that exhibits liquid crystallinity at less than or equal to 130°C, and, as a component (B), a low-molecular-weight compound that has a photodimerizable structural segment or a photoisomerizable structural segment.

Le problème décrit par la présente invention est de fournir un matériau pour former un film d'alignement de cristaux liquides qui permet une cuisson à basse température, fournit une performance de commande d'alignement hautement efficace et a une large plage pour la dose d'irradiation ultraviolette polarisée optimale. La solution selon l'invention porte sur un agent d'alignement de cristaux liquides qui comprend, en tant que composant (A), un polymère présentant une cristallinité liquide à moins de 130 °C et, en tant que composant (B), un composé de faible poids moléculaire ayant un segment structural photodimérisable ou un segment structural photoisomérisable.
