This light–emitting element comprises a light-emitting part in which a first electrode, an organic layer, and a second electrode are stacked in this order. The first electrode is configured from a first portion, a second portion, and a third portion, the first portion is located at the center of the first electrode, the second portion surrounds the first portion, the third portion surrounds the second portion, and a foundation layer is formed under the first portion, the second portion, and the third portion of the first electrode. The organic layer is in contact with the first portion of the first electrode, and in contact with at least the second portion of the first electrode, and the value of surface roughness of the first portion of the first electrode is larger than the values of surface roughness of the second portion and the third portion of the first electrode.
