A solar cell element (10) according to the present invention is provided with: a substrate (1); and a photoelectric conversion element (20) which is positioned on the substrate (1). The photoelectric conversion element (20) comprises an electrode (21), an electron transport layer (22), a protective layer (23) and a light absorption layer (24). The electrode (21) is positioned on the substrate (1). The electron transport layer (22) is positioned on the electrode (21), and contains a zinc oxide-based material or an indium oxide-based material. The protective layer (23) is positioned on the electron transport layer (22), and contains a material that is different from the zinc oxide-based material and the indium oxide-based material, while having a carrier density and a thickness smaller than those of the electron transport layer (22). The light absorption layer (24) is positioned on the protective layer (23), and contains a semiconductor that has a perovskite structure having an amine group.
