Provided is a secondary battery comprising: a positive electrode having a positive electrode active material layer which contains a lithium-cobalt composite oxide having a layered rock salt-type crystal structure; a negative electrode having a negative electrode active material layer containing graphite; and an electrolyte. When the secondary battery is charged and discharged with the upper limit value of a closed circuit voltage of 4.42 V or higher, the relationship between unit capacity (mAh/g) and area ratio (%) satisfies the conditional expression represented by 168 mAh/g ≤ unit capacity (mAh/g) ≤ (-0.28×area ratio (%)+178) mAh/g.

L'invention concerne une batterie secondaire comprenant : une électrode positive ayant une couche de matériau actif d'électrode positive qui contient un oxyde composite de lithium-cobalt ayant une structure cristalline de type sel gemme stratifiée ; une électrode négative ayant une couche de matériau actif d'électrode négative contenant du graphite ; et un électrolyte. Lorsque la batterie secondaire est chargée et déchargée avec la valeur limite supérieure d'une tension de circuit fermé de 4,42 V ou plus, la relation entre la capacité unitaire (mAh/g) et le rapport de surface (%) satisfait l'expression conditionnelle représentée par 168 mAh/g ≤ capacité unitaire (mAh/g) ≤ (-0,28 × rapport de surface (%)+178) mAh/g.

二次電池は、リチウムコバルト複合酸化物を含む正極活物質層を備え、そのリチウムコバルト複合酸化物が層状岩塩型の結晶構造を有する正極と、黒鉛を含む負極活物質層を備えた負極と、電解液とを備える。閉回路電圧の上限値を4.42V以上として充放電された際に、単位容量(mAh/g)が面積比率(%)との関係において168mAh/g≦単位容量(mAh/g)≦(-0.28×面積比率(%)+178)mAh/gで表される条件を満たす。
