According to an embodiment, an image processing device for displaying an image on a display device mounted on the head of a user is provided. The image processing device comprises an input unit, a synthesized image generation unit, and a computation unit. The input unit accepts as inputs thereto a first image displayed on a first display panel and a second image displayed on a second display panel. The synthesized image generation unit synthesizes the first and second images and thereby generates a third image. The computation unit computes on the basis of the third image, a control value for driving a first illumination unit that irradiates the first display panel with light, and for driving a second illumination unit that irradiates the second display panel with light. The first illumination unit irradiates the first display panel with light on the basis of the control value. The second illumination unit irradiates the second display panel with light on the basis of the control value.

Selon un mode de réalisation de la présente invention, l'invention concerne un dispositif de traitement d'image permettant d'afficher une image sur un dispositif d'affichage monté sur la tête d'un utilisateur. Le dispositif de traitement d'image comprend une unité d'entrée, une unité de génération d'image synthétisée et une unité de calcul. L'unité d'entrée accepte en tant qu'entrée une première image affichée sur un premier panneau d'affichage et une deuxième image affichée sur un second panneau d'affichage. L'unité de génération d'image synthétisée synthétise les première et deuxième images et génère ainsi une troisième image.
