CLAIMS

1. A welding apparatus, which comprises a main unit (2) which directly or indirectly supports a first electrode (3 a) and a second electrode (3b) which can be passed through by an electric current for carrying out welding processes, said unit (2) being associated with a device (6) for temporarily releasing a supporting arm (7) of said first electrode (3a), which can be selectively activated to temporarily allow the movement of said arm

(7), characterized in that said device (6) comprises an axially symmetric hollow body (8), which is supported by said unit (2) with the possibility to axially rotate between at least one first angular position, in which, with at least one axial portion (8a) thereof, it is arranged in interference with the rotation of said arm (7), and at least one second angular position, in which a window (10) provided along the lateral surface of said at least one portion (8a) is arranged along the rotation path of said arm (7) in order to allow the movement of said arm (7), said device (6) comprising a lever (1 1) for actuating said body (8), which is rotatable with respect to said body (8) and comprises a first rod (12a) and a second rod (12b), which are mutually articulated at a common end (12c) and can slide between a first configuration, in which they are aligned and accommodated in said body

(8), and a second configuration, in which said first rod (12a) is extracted from said body (8), said body (8) having a seat (13) which is configured for coupling by interlocking with said first rod (12a), which is arranged in said second, axial configuration and rotated with respect to said second rod ( 12b) about said common end (12c), with respect to the condition of mutual alignment, in order to command the rotation of said body (8) between said angular positions by way of the movement of said first rod (12a).

2. The welding apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that said seat (13) is defined at a protruding end of said body (8), directed outward, and is constituted by a radial notch of width substantially corresponding to the diameter of said first rod (12a), for coupling by

interlocking with said first rod (12a), arranged in said second, axial configuration with orientation perpendicular to said second rod (12b).

The welding apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that said body (8) is substantially shaped like a straight circular cylinder, having an enlarged head (8b) protruding at an end thereof, said window (10) being ideally defined between two generatrices of said cylinder and two axially aligned arcs, which are chosen to have a measure preferably less than 180°.

4. The welding apparatus according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said rods (12a, 12b) can slide within a longitudinal duct (14) which is provided coaxially inside said body (8).

5. The welding apparatus according to one or more of claims 1-3, characterized in that said rods (12a, 12b) can slide within a longitudinal channel (14) which is provided eccentrically inside said body (8).

The welding apparatus according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that it comprises detachable means for locking said rods (12a, 12b), which can be selectively activated in said first configuration in order to obstruct the accidental transition to said second configuration and the involuntary actuation of said device (6).

The welding apparatus according to claim 6, characterized in that said means for locking comprise a latch (15) mounted transversely on said first rod (12a) and configured for bayonet coupling in a respective contoured recess (16) provided inside said body (8), following a rotation of said lever (1 1) with respect to said body (8), imparted with said rods (12a, 12b) in said first configuration.

8. The welding apparatus according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that it comprises an indication mechanism (17), which can be automatically activated during the rotation of said body (8) with respect to said main unit (2) upon reaching said second angular position.

The welding apparatus according to claim 8, characterized in that said mechanism (17) comprises a sensor anchored to said body (8), which is configured to detect its alignment with a nick (18) arranged along the lateral surface of said body (8), the condition of alignment between said nick (18) and said sensor being chosen to correspond to when said body (8) reaches said second angular position.

10. The welding apparatus according to claim 9, characterized in that said sensor comprises a sprung tip element (19), which is usually kept pressed elastically against said lateral surface of said body (8) and is automatically moveable upon alignment with said nick ( 18).

The welding apparatus according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said lever (1 1) has a knob (20) for gripping, which is installed on said first rod (12a) at the opposite end from said common end (12c), and which defines a facilitated handle at least foimoving said rods (12a, 12b) between said configurations and the rotation of said first rod (12a) with respect to said second rod (12b), in said second configuration.
