Claims

1 . An inter-battery-group connector comprising a plurality of first contact terminals, a plurality of second contact terminals and an inter-terminal link interconnecting the plurality of first contact terminals and the plurality of second contact terminals; wherein the inter-terminal link is a distributed connector comprising a plurality of first conductive strip portions, a plurality of second conductive strip portions and an intermediate conductive strip portion; wherein the first conductive strip portion extends from a first contact terminal to join the intermediate conductive strip portion and the second conductive strip extends from a second contact terminal to join the intermediate conductive strip portion; and wherein the first conductive strip portions, the second conductive strip portions and the intermediate conductive strip portion are configured to form a thermally and electrically conductive grating.

The inter-battery-group connector of claim 1 , wherein the first contact terminals are distributed along a first longitudinal direction defined by a first longitudinal axis, and the second contact terminals are distributed along a second longitudinal direction defined by a second longitudinal axis which is parallel to the first longitudinal axis.

The inter-battery-group connector according to claim 2, wherein the inter-terminal link is a distributed connector comprising a plurality of first conductive strip portions distributed along the first longitudinal direction, a plurality of second conductive strip portions distributed along the second longitudinal direction and an intermediate conductive strip portion.

4. The inter-battery-group connector of according to any preceding claim, wherein the first conductive strip portions are distributed to form a first conductive grating portion comprising a plurality of spaced-apart first conductive strip portions.

5. The inter-battery-group connector according to according to any preceding claim, wherein the second conductive strip portions are distributed to form a second conductive grating portion comprising a plurality of spaced-apart second conductive strip portions.

6. The inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claim, wherein the conductive grating has a pair of opposite-facing major surfaces which is located between the first contact terminal and the second contact terminal.

7. The inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claim, wherein the conductive grating has a thickness which is equal or comparable to thickness of the first contact terminal and/or the second contact terminal.

8. The inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claim, wherein the conductive grating is integrally formed from a metal sheet such that the first conductive strip portions, the second conductive strip portions and the intermediate conductive strip portion have a uniform thickness.

9. The inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claim, wherein the conductive grating is a flexible metal strip grating and the intermediate conductive strip portion is a flexible metal strip that can have a non-linear profile along its length.

10. The inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claim, wherein the conductive grating has a large metal surface area to metal thickness ratio of at least 100.

1 1 . The inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claim, wherein the conductive grating has a large metal surface area to air-gap area ratio of at least 2.

12. The inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claim, wherein the first contact terminal is on a first side of the intermediate conductive strip portion and the second contact terminal is on a second side of the intermediate conductive strip portion.

The inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claim, wherein the first contact terminals and the second contact terminals are alternately disposed along a longitudinal direction which is a direction of extension of the intermediate conductive strip portion, such that at least one of the first contact terminals is located half-way between two immediately adjacent second contact terminals, and/or at least one of the second contact terminals is located half-way between two immediately adjacent first contact terminals.

The inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claim, wherein the first contact terminal has a battery-terminal contact surface, and the second contact terminal has a battery- terminal contact surface; and wherein the battery-terminal contact surfaces of the first contact terminal and the second contact terminal are parallel but have opposite facing orientations.

The inter-battery-group connector according to claim 14, wherein the battery-terminal contact surfaces of a first contact terminal and an adjacent second contact terminal an axial separation distance, and the axial separation distance between all adjacent first and second contact terminal pairs is uniform.

16. The inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claim, wherein the first contact terminal projects away from the intermediate conductive strip portion and extends in a first side direction, and wherein the second contact terminal projects away from the intermediate

conductive strip portion and extends in a second side direction opposite to the first side direction.

17. The inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claim, wherein the first contact terminal comprises a first contact tab, the first contact tab projecting orthogonally away from the first conductive strip portion and away from the second contact terminal.

18. The inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claim, wherein the second contact terminal comprises a second contact tab, the second contact tab projecting orthogonally away from the second conductive strip portion and away from the first contact terminal.

19. The inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claim, wherein the first conductive strip portions are parallel to each other; and/or wherein the second conductive strip portions are parallel.

The inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claim, wherein the first conductive strip portions and the second conductive strip portions are alternately disposed along a longitudinal direction which is a direction of extension of the intermediate conductive strip portion such that at least one of the first conductive strip portions is between two immediately second conductive strip portions, and at least one of the second conductive strip portions is between two immediately first conductive strip portions.

21 . The inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claim, wherein the intermediate conductive strip portion is elongate and extends along a longitudinal direction to define the longitudinal extent of the inter-battery-group connector.

The inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claim, wherein the intermediate conductive strip portion comprises a first end connection tab which projects away from a conductive strip portion proximal to a first longitudinal end of the inter-battery-group connector; and/or wherein the intermediate conductive strip portion comprises a second end connection tab which projects away from a conductive strip portion proximal to a second longitudinal end of the inter-battery-group connector.

23. A battery assembly comprising a plurality of batteries arranged into a plurality of battery groups, wherein batteries of a battery group are in parallel connection and adjacent battery groups are connected in series, and wherein a pair of adjacent battery groups are connected by an inter-battery-group connector according to any preceding claims.
