Disclosed is a system and method for sorting copper-bearing ore to select portions having a target copper content. The system includes an analysis and selection station including first magnetic resonance analyzer measuring the copper content of input ore and a controlled diverter to divert portions of the input ore to a collection path when the copper content meets or exceeds a predetermined cut-off value. The predetermined cut-off is adjusted by a controller in response to the first magnetic resonance analyzer. A second magnetic resonance analyzer measures the copper content of the ore in a product path. That measurement is fed back to the controller to fine tune the adjusted cut-off value above, up or down, to optimize the yield of ore having the targeted copper content. The system may include a station for sizing the input ore, a station for sizing the output ore, and a station for sizing waste produced by the system.

L'invention concerne un système et un procédé de tri de minerai cuprifère pour sélectionner des portions ayant une teneur en cuivre cible. Le système comprend une station d'analyse et de sélection comprenant un premier analyseur de résonance magnétique mesurant la teneur en cuivre du minerai introduit et un déflecteur commandé pour dévier des portions du minerai introduit vers une voie de collecte lorsque la teneur en cuivre atteint ou dépasse une valeur limite prédéterminée. La limite prédéterminée est ajustée par un dispositif de commande en réponse au premier analyseur de résonance magnétique. Un second analyseur de résonance magnétique mesure la teneur en cuivre du minerai dans une voie de produit. Cette mesure est renvoyée au dispositif de commande pour régler finement la valeur limite ajustée précédemment, à la hausse ou à la baisse, afin d'optimiser le rendement du minerai présentant la teneur en cuivre ciblée. Le système peut comprendre une station pour calibrer le minerai introduit, une station pour calibrer le minerai sortant, et une station pour cribler des déchets produits par le système.
