Abstract

The present invention relates to the removal of alcohol e.g. ethanol, from a filter in a fluidic or microfluidic system. More particularly it relates to improved methods and devices using reduction of pressure for removing ethanol from filters in point of care (POC) devices, where said filters are solid state extraction filters used to capture and/or concentrate nucleic acids prior to further downstream processing such as amplification by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The method uses the induction of negative pressure (with respect to atmospheric pressure) to improve the efficiency of the ethanol removal process.

La présente invention concerne l'élimination d'alcool, par exemple l'éthanol, d'un filtre dans un système fluidique ou microfluidique. Plus particulièrement, l'invention concerne des procédés et des dispositifs améliorés utilisant une réduction de pression pour éliminer l'éthanol de filtres dans des dispositifs de point de soins (POC), lesdits filtres étant des filtres d'extraction à l'état solide utilisés pour capturer et/ou concentrer des acides nucléiques avant d'autres traitements en aval tels que l'amplification par réaction en chaîne par polymérase (PCR). Le procédé utilise l'induction d'une pression négative (par rapport à la pression atmosphérique) pour améliorer l'efficacité du procédé d'élimination d'éthanol.
