Abstract

There is provided a packaging material comprising a fibre based substrate and a gas barrier layer based on a polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH), wherein said gas barrier layer comprises an interpolymer complex forming agent (IPCFA), which IPCFA is a watersoluble polymer exhibiting functional groups capable of forming hydrogen bonds with -OH groups of the PVOH. Said PVOH has a weight average molecular weight (Mw) measured according to ASTM D4001 - 13 in the range of about 80 kg/mol to 135 kg/mol, the proportion of said IPCFA to PVOH in said gas barrier layer is in the range of 0.5 to 7.0 % (w/w) and said packaging material has an oxygen permeability (OP) below 14 ml μm/m2 day atm, which OP is obtained by multiplying the oxygen transmission rate (OTR) of the packaging material measured according to ASTM F1927-7 at a relative humidity (RH) of 80% and 23 °C by the thickness of the gas barrier layer.

L'invention concerne un matériau d'emballage comprenant un substrat à base de fibres et une couche barrière aux gaz à base d'alcool polyvinylique (PVOH), ladite couche barrière aux gaz comprenant un agent de formation de complexe interpolymère (IPCFA), ledit IPCFA étant un polymère soluble dans l'eau présentant des groupes fonctionnels capables de former des liaisons hydrogène avec des groupes -OH de l'alcool polyvinylique. Ledit alcool polyvinylique présente un poids moléculaire moyen en poids (Mw) mesuré selon la norme ASTM D4001 - 13 dans la plage d'environ 80 kg/mol à 135 kg/mol, la proportion dudit IPCFA sur PVOH dans ladite couche barrière aux gaz est dans la plage de 0,5 à 7,0 % (p/p) et ledit matériau d'emballage a une perméabilité à l'oxygène (OP) en dessous de 14 ml µm/m 2 jour atm, ladite OP est obtenue par multiplication du taux de transmission d'oxygène (OTR) du matériau d'emballage mesuré selon la norme ASTM F1927-7 à une humidité relative (RH) de 80 % et 23 °C par l'épaisseur de la couche barrière aux gaz.
