There is provided a method of coating a paper substrate using a multi-slot curtain coater, wherein a water-based composition comprising a polymer is fed through a first slot and a water-based composition comprising silicone is fed through a second slot to form a curtain of at least two layers that coats the paper with a support layer and a silicone layer on top of the support layer and wherein: -the flow rate (1/min*m) is at least five times higher for the polymer composition than for the silicone composition; -the flow rate of the curtain is at least 6.0 l/min*m, such as 6.0-50 l/min*m, such as 6.0-15 1/min*m; -the coating speed is 500-2000 m/min, such as 500-1500 m/min; -the viscosity is higher for polymer composition than for the silicone composition, wherein the viscosity is measured according to ISO 3219:1993 at 25 °C using a shear rate of 25 s-1; -the solids content of the polymer composition is 8.0-40 % and the solids content of the silicone composition is 8.0-40 %; and -the solids content of the polymer composition is higher than or equal to the solids content of the silicone composition. A certain product that can be produced by the method is also provided.

L'invention concerne un procédé de revêtement d'un substrat en papier à l'aide d'une encolleuse à rideau à fentes multiples, une composition à base d'eau comprenant un polymère étant introduite dans une première fente et une composition à base d'eau comprenant du silicone étant introduite dans une seconde fente pour former un rideau d'au moins deux couches qui recouvre le papier avec une couche support et une couche de silicone sur la couche support. Le débit (1/min*m) est au moins cinq fois plus important pour la composition polymère que pour la composition de silicone ; le débit du rideau est d'au moins 6,0 l/min*m, par exemple 6,0-50 l/min*m, par exemple 6,0-15 l/min*m ; la vitesse de revêtement est comprise entre 500 et 2 000 m/min, par exemple 500-1 500 m/min ; la viscosité est plus importante pour la composition polymère que pour la composition de silicone, la viscosité étant mesurée selon la norme ISO 3219:1993 à 25 °C en utilisant une vitesse de cisaillement de 25 s- 1 ; la teneur en matières solides de la composition de polymère est comprise entre 8,0 et 40 % et la teneur en matières solides de la composition de silicone est comprise entre 8,0 et 40 % ; et la teneur en matières solides de la composition de polymère est supérieure ou égale à la teneur en matières solides de la composition de silicone. L’invention concerne également un certain produit pouvant être obtenu grâce au procédé.
