The invention relates to a control device (10, 20, 30) for controlling a sensor array (18) for monitoring a working range (110, 112, 114) of a machine (100, 150), comprising: an input interface (12) for entering a rotation direction signal containing a rotation direction (116) of a working arm (102) of the machine (100, 150) relative to a rotary bearing (104) of the machine (100, 150); a signal-generating unit (14) for generating a control signal in order to provide an activated or deactivated state of a monitoring function of the sensor array (18) with regard to at least part of the working range (110, 112, 114) of the machine (100, 150), depending on the rotation direction (116) of the working arm (102); and an output interface (16) for outputting the control signal to the sensor array (18).
