An electrical connector includes a receptacle connector having a tongue member with a surface extending between first and second tongue ends and having a shoulder extending from the surface adjacent to the second tongue end. The shoulder has a cross-sectional area within a receptacle opening size limit. The receptacle connector further includes a set of electrical contacts each extending through the shoulder between first and second contact ends on opposite sides of the shoulder. The electrical contacts at the first contact end are attached to the tongue surface at the first tongue end. The electrical contacts at the second contact end extend beyond the second tongue end. The receptacle connector further includes an electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding bracket covering at least a portion of the set of electrical contacts between the first contact end and the shoulder. The disclosure further includes a method of making the electrical connector.

L'invention concerne un connecteur électrique comprenant un connecteur d'embase ayant un élément de languette avec une surface s'étendant entre des première et seconde extrémités de languette et ayant un épaulement s'étendant à partir de la surface adjacente à la seconde extrémité de languette. L'épaulement a une aire de section transversale à l'intérieur d'une limite de taille d'ouverture d'embase. Le connecteur d'embase comprend en outre un ensemble de contacts électriques s'étendant chacun à travers l'épaulement entre des première et seconde extrémités de contact sur des côtés opposés de l'épaulement. Les contacts électriques au niveau de la première extrémité de contact sont fixés à la surface de languette au niveau de la première extrémité de languette. Les contacts électriques au niveau de la seconde extrémité de contact s'étendent au-delà de la seconde extrémité de languette. Le connecteur d'embase comprend en outre un support de blindage contre les interférences électromagnétiques (EMI) recouvrant au moins une partie de l'ensemble de contacts électriques entre la première extrémité de contact et l'épaulement.
