The present invention patent describes a portable device that uses attenuation in an electromagnetic signal to determine low or high bone mineral density (BMD) in vivo, using non-ionizing radiation emissions. The architecture of the device includes embedded systems, mobile technologies, a system on chip and artificial intelligence. The techniques available to determine BMD include dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), quantitative computed tomography (QCT) and quantitative ultrasound (QUS). The first two techniques use ionizing radiation that can alter or destroy cells in the human body, and also require large-scale equipment and qualified professionals to operate said equipment. QUS does not use radiation and provides a range of devices, with differences between the measurements obtained, without applying conventional diagnostic criteria.

Le présent brevet d'invention concerne un dispositif portatif faisant appel à l'atténuation du signal électromagnétique pour la détermination de la faible ou haute densité minérale osseuse (DMO) in vivo, et fonctionnant avec l'émission d'un rayonnement non ionisant. Son architecture est constituée des éléments suivants : systèmes embarqués, technologies mobiles, système sur puce et intelligence artificielle. Les techniques de détermination de la DMO incluent l'absorptiométrie à rayons X en double énergie (DEXA), la tomographie quantitative par ordinateur (TQC) et l'ultrasonographie quantitative (QUS). Les deux premières se caractérisent par la présence d'un rayonnement ionisant pouvant modifier ou détruire des cellules du corps humain, outre le fait qu'elles font intervenir des équipements de grande taille nécessitant un professionnel qualifié pour leur fonctionnement. La technique QUS ne fait pas appel à un rayonnement, une variabilité existant entre les appareils, des variations étant observées dans les mesures obtenues, sans application de critères diagnostiques classiques.

A presente patente de invenção descreve um dispositivo portátil que faz uso da atenuação do sinal eletromagnético para determinação da baixa ou alta Densidade Mineral Óssea (DMO) in vivo, funcionando com a emissão de radiação não ionizante. Sua arquitetura é composta de sistemas embarcados, tecnologias móveis, System on Chip e inteligência artificial. Dentre as técnicas disponíveis para determinação da DMO, tem-se a Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA), a Tomografia Quantitativa Computadorizada (TQC) e a Ultrassonografia Quantitativa (QUS). Na duas primeiras, tem-se a presença de radiação ionizante que pode alterar ou destruir células do corpo humano, além de serem equipamentos de grande porte e necessitarem de um profissional qualificado para operá-lo. A QUS, não apresenta radiação, havendo variabilidade entre os aparelhos, tendo variações nas medidas obtidas, sem a aplicação de critérios de diagnósticos clássicos.
