Methods, systems, and apparatus, including medium-encoded computer program products, for computer aided design of physical structures include: obtaining a first 3D model including a polygon mesh associated with one or more modelled solids, the one or more modelled solids being in a boundary representation format; producing from the polygon mesh a quad patch network that combines, using transfinite interpolation, the polygon mesh with one or more smooth boundary curves corresponding to the one or more modelled solids; defining one or more locally refinable smooth surface representations using the quad patch network as input and based at least in part on a smallest dimension representable by a geometry modeling kernel of a computer aided design program; and combining the one or more locally refinable smooth surface representations with the one or more modelled solids to form a second 3D model that is watertight at the one or more smooth boundary curves.

L'invention concerne des procédés, des systèmes et un appareil, comprenant des produits-programmes informatiques codés sur un support, destinés à la conception assistée par ordinateur de structures physiques, consistant à : obtenir un premier modèle 3D comprenant un maillage polygonal associé à un ou plusieurs solides modélisés, le ou les solides modélisés étant dans un format de représentation de limite ; produire à partir du maillage polygonal un réseau de correctifs quadrillé qui combine, à l'aide d'une interpolation transfinie, le maillage polygonal avec une ou plusieurs courbes de limite lisse correspondant au ou aux solides modélisés ; définir une ou plusieurs représentations de surface lisse pouvant être affinées localement à l'aide du réseau quadrillé en tant qu'entrée et sur la base, au moins en partie, d'une plus petite dimension pouvant être représentée par un noyau de modélisation géométrique d'un programme de conception assistée par ordinateur ; et combiner la ou les représentations de surface lisse pouvant être affinées localement avec le ou les solides modélisés pour former un second modèle 3D qui est étanche à l'eau au niveau de la ou des courbes de limite lisse.
