Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a magnetic base for a programmable machine. In an exemplary embodiment, magnetic system comprises a robotic arm and a magnetic base. The robotic arm comprises a pivot joint allowing the robotic arm to move in at least one direction. The magnetic base is coupled to the robotic arm and supports the robotic arm. The magnetic base comprises a magnetic coupler and a wheel. The magnetic coupler comprises a workpiece contact interface and a magnet assembly configurable between off and on states. The off state produces a first magnetic field at the workpiece contact interface that is less than a second magnetic field produced at the workpiece contact interface when in the on state. The wheel rotates about an axis and supports the magnetic base to permit a movement of the magnetic system.

Des modes de réalisation de la présente invention concernent une base magnétique destinée à une machine programmable. Dans un mode de réalisation donné à titre d'exemple, le système magnétique comprend un bras robotique et une base magnétique. Le bras robotique comprend une articulation à pivot permettant au bras robotique de se déplacer dans au moins une direction. La base magnétique est accouplée au bras robotique et supporte le bras robotique. La base magnétique comprend un coupleur magnétique et une roue. Le coupleur magnétique comprend une interface de contact de pièce à travailler et un ensemble aimant configurable entre des états d'arrêt et de marche. L'état d'arrêt produit un premier champ magnétique au niveau de l'interface de contact de pièce à travailler qui est inférieur à un second champ magnétique produit au niveau de l'interface de contact de pièce à travailler lorsqu'il est dans l'état de marche. La roue tourne autour d'un axe et supporte la base magnétique pour permettre un mouvement du système magnétique.
