The present invention provides a method for producing a particulate water absorbent that is capable of reducing the amount of back-flow of an absorbent article if used for the absorbent article. A method for producing a particulate water absorbent according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises a surface crosslinking step wherein a water absorbent resin powder is subjected to surface crosslinking with use of a surface crosslinking agent; the water absorbent resin powder has a specific surface area index of 1.5 or more, said specific surface area index being represented by formula (1); and the surface crosslinking agent has an apparent Hansen solubility parameter of from 22.5 MPa1/2 to 28.5 MPa1/2. (1): (specific surface area index) = (specific surface area of water absorbent resin powder)/(108 × D502) (In formula (1), the unit of the specific surface area index is (1/kg); the unit of the specific surface area is (m2/kg); D50 represents the mass average particle diameter; and the unit of D50 is (m).)

La présente invention concerne un procédé de production d'un absorbant particulaire d'eau qui est en mesure de réduire la quantité de reflux d'un article absorbant s'il est utilisé pour l'article absorbant. Un procédé de production d'un absorbant particulaire d'eau selon un mode de réalisation de la présente invention comprend une étape de réticulation de surface dans laquelle une poudre de résine absorbant l'eau est soumise à une réticulation de surface à l'aide d'un agent de réticulation de surface ; la poudre de résine absorbant l'eau présente un indice d'aire de surface spécifique supérieur ou égal à 1,5, ledit indice d'aire de surface spécifique étant représenté par la formule (1) ; et l'agent de réticulation de surface présente un paramètre de solubilité de Hansen apparent de 22,5 MPa1/2 à 28,5 MPa1/2.
