The present invention provides: a biaxially oriented polyester film which has excellent mechanical properties, transparency and heat resistance, while being excellent in terms of secondary processing adequacy and print appearance; and a method for producing this biaxially oriented polyester film. A biaxially oriented polyester film which is configured such that: at least one film surface satisfies the requirements (1) and (2) described below; and the film satisfies the requirements (3) and (4) described below. (1) The maximum profile peak height (SRp) is 1.2-1.6 μm. (2) The arithmetic mean roughness (SRa) is 0.024-0.045 μm. (3) The tensile strengths in the longitudinal direction and in the width direction are 180-300 MPa. (4) The haze is 7% or less.

La présente invention concerne : un film de polyester orienté biaxialement qui présente d'excellentes propriétés mécaniques, une excellente transparence et une excellente résistance à la chaleur, tout en étant excellent en termes d'adéquation de traitement secondaire et d'aspect d'impression ; et un procédé de production de ce film de polyester orienté biaxialement. Selon l'invention, un film de polyester orienté biaxialement est conçu de telle sorte que : au moins une surface de film satisfait aux exigences (1) et (2) décrites ci-dessous ; et le film satisfait aux exigences (3) et (4) décrites ci-dessous. (1) La hauteur maximale de pic de profil (SRp) est de 1,2-1,6 µm. (2) La rugosité moyenne arithmétique (SRa) est de 0,024-0,045 µm. (3) Les résistances à la traction dans la direction longitudinale et dans la direction de la largeur sont de 180-300 MPa. (4) Le voile est inférieur ou égal à 7 %.
