A method of characterizing an optical system, wherein the optical system comprises an optical fibre having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the optical fibre comprises a non-single- mode optical fibre, and comprising a reflector assembly comprising a stack of reflectors disposed at the distal end of the optical fibre, wherein the stack of reflectors is arranged to provide different reflector matrices in dependence on illumination wavelength. The method comprises projecting calibration patterns at a plurality of characterization wavelengths onto the proximal end, then obtaining, at the proximal end, data relating to reflected calibration patterns. An instantaneous transmission matrix of the optical fibre is then determined using the data relating to the reflected calibration patterns and the reflector matrices.

L'invention concerne un procédé de caractérisation d'un système optique, le système optique comprenant une fibre optique ayant une extrémité proximale et une extrémité distale, la fibre optique comprenant une fibre optique non monomode, et comprenant un ensemble réflecteur comprenant une pile de réflecteurs disposé à l'extrémité distale de la fibre optique, la pile de réflecteurs étant agencée pour fournir différentes matrices de réflecteur en fonction de la longueur d'onde d'éclairage. Le procédé comprend la projection de motifs d'étalonnage à une pluralité de longueurs d'onde de caractérisation sur l'extrémité proximale, puis l'obtention, au niveau de l'extrémité proximale, de données relatives aux motifs d'étalonnage réfléchis. Une matrice de transmission instantanée de la fibre optique est ensuite déterminée à l'aide des données relatives aux motifs d'étalonnage réfléchis et aux matrices de réflecteur.
