Thianthrene derivative of the Formula (I): wherein R1 to R8 may be the same or different and are selected from hydrogen, Cl, F, a partially or fully fluorinated C1 to C6 alkyl group, and wherein n is 0 or 1, with the proviso that at least one of R1 to R8 is not hydrogen and process for C-H functionalization of aromatic compounds using this compound.

La présente invention concerne un dérivé de thianthrène de formule (I) : dans laquelle R1 à R8 peuvent être identiques ou différents et sont choisis parmi l'hydrogène, Cl, F, un groupe alkyle en C1 à C6 partiellement ou entièrement fluoré, et n valant 0 ou 1, à condition qu'au moins l'un de R1 à R8 ne soit pas l'hydrogène et un procédé pour la fonctionnalisation de la liaison C-H de composés aromatiques à l'aide de ce composé.
