A light guide plate that includes a glass substrate including an edge surface and at least two major surfaces defining a thickness and an edge surface, the edge surface configured to receive light from a light source and the glass substrate configured to distribute the light from the light source, wherein the glass substrate comprises an alkali-containing bulk and an alkali-depleted surface layer, the alkali-depleted surface layer comprising about 0.5 atomic% alkali or less. Display products and methods of processing a glass substrate for use as a light guide plate are also provided.

L'invention concerne une plaque de guidage de lumière qui comprend un substrat en verre comprenant une surface de bord et au moins deux surfaces principales définissant une épaisseur et une surface de bord, la surface de bord étant configurée pour recevoir la lumière provenant d'une source de lumière et le substrat en verre étant configuré pour distribuer la lumière provenant de la source de lumière, le substrat en verre comprenant un volume contenant un alcali et une couche de surface appauvrie en alcali, la couche de surface appauvrie en alcali comprenant environ 0,5 % atomique d'alcali ou moins. L'invention concerne également des produits d'affichage et des procédés de traitement d'un substrat en verre destinés à être utilisés en tant que plaque de guidage de lumière.
