The present technology pertains to a display device which can improve the user experience, and a display control method. Provided is a display device comprising a control unit which, when displaying, on a display unit, an image resulting from an image frame obtained by photographing a user, controls the luminance of an illumination area that includes, from among a first area of the image frame that contains the user and a second area of the image frame which is the area other than the first area, at least a part of the second area, causing the device to function as illumination that emits light toward the user. The present technology can be applied to television receivers, for example.

La présente technologie se rapporte à un dispositif d'affichage qui peut améliorer l'expérience de l'utilisateur, et à un procédé de commande d'affichage. L'invention concerne un dispositif d'affichage comprenant une unité de commande qui, lors de l'affichage, sur une unité d'affichage, d'une image résultant d'une trame d'image obtenue par photographie d'un utilisateur, commande la luminance d'une zone d'éclairage qui comprend, parmi une première zone de la trame d'image qui contient l'utilisateur, et une seconde zone de la trame d'image qui est la zone autre que la première zone, au moins une partie de la seconde zone, amenant le dispositif à fonctionner comme un éclairage qui émet de la lumière vers l'utilisateur. La présente technologie peut, par exemple, être appliquée à des récepteurs de télévision.

本技術は、ユーザ体験の向上を図ることができるようにする表示装置、及び表示制御方法に関する。 ユーザを撮影して得られる画像フレームに応じた映像を表示部に表示するに際して、画像フレームにおけるユーザを含む第1の領域と第1の領域を除いた第2の領域のうちの少なくとも第2の領域の一部を含む照明領域の輝度を制御して、ユーザに対して光を発する照明として機能させる制御部を備える表示装置が提供される。本技術は、例えば、テレビ受像機に適用することができる。
