Abstract

A process of generating an alkyl ester of a fatty acid (e.g., a biodiesel) from a free fatty acid-containing substance (e.g., a feedstock), is provided. The process is effected by contacting a mixture of the free fatty acid-containing substance and a respective alcohol with Lewis Acid; and, while contacting, exposing the mixture and the Lewis acid to ultrasound energy. An alkyl ester of a fatty acid, or a mixture of two or more alkyl esters of fatty acids, (e.g., a biodiesel), obtainable by the process, are also provided.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'un ester alkylique d'un acide gras (par exemple un biodiesel) à partir d'une substance contenant un acide gras libre (par exemple d'une charge de départ). Le procédé est mis en œuvre par la mise en contact d'un mélange de la substance à teneur en acide gras libre et d'un alcool respectif avec un acide de Lewis; et, pendant la mise en contact, l'exposition du mélange et de l'acide de Lewis à de l'énergie ultrasonore. L'invention concerne également un ester alkylique d'un acide gras ou un mélange d'au moins deux esters alkyliques d'acides gras (par exemple un biodiesel), pouvant être obtenu par le procédé.
