For each image in a set of images (310), residual data is obtained based on first and second representations of the image at a first level of quality. The second representation is based on a representation of the image at a second, lower level of quality. The residual data is useable by a decoder to reconstruct, for each image in the set (310), the first representation using the second representation. One or more configuration parameters (320) of configuration data relating to processing of the residual data: (i) are obtained, (ii) are useable by the decoder to reconstruct the first representation for each image in the set (310), and (iii) correspond to multiple images in the set (310). The one or more configuration parameters (320) are output for processing by the decoder. The number of times the one or more configuration parameters (320) is output for the set (310) is less than the number of images in the set (310).

Selon l'invention, pour chaque image dans un ensemble d'images (310), des données résiduelles sont obtenues sur la base de première et seconde représentations de l'image à un premier niveau de qualité. La seconde représentation est basée sur une représentation de l'image à un second niveau de qualité qui est inférieur. Les données résiduelles peuvent être utilisées par un décodeur pour reconstruire, pour chaque image dans l'ensemble (310), la première représentation à l'aide de la seconde représentation. Un ou plusieurs paramètres de configuration (320) de données de configuration se rapportant au traitement des données résiduelles : (I) sont obtenus, (ii) sont utilisables par le décodeur pour reconstruire la première représentation pour chaque image dans l'ensemble (310), et (iii) correspondent à de multiples images dans l'ensemble (310).
