An example method includes obtaining a current block of video data in a current picture of video data; determining a search region for the current block within a reconstructed region of the current picture, wherein the search region includes less than all of the reconstructed region of the current picture; selecting, from within the search region, a predictor block for the current block; determining a vector that identifies the selected predictor block for the current block; and encoding, in a coded video bitstream, a representation of the vector.

La présente invention concerne un procédé donné à titre d'exemple consistant : à obtenir un bloc actuel de données vidéo dans une image actuelle de données vidéo ; à déterminer une région de recherche pour le bloc actuel à l'intérieur d'une région reconstruite de l'image actuelle, la région de recherche comprenant moins de la totalité de la région reconstruite de l'image actuelle ; à sélectionner, à partir de l'intérieur de la région de recherche, un bloc prédicteur pour le bloc actuel ; à déterminer un vecteur qui identifie le bloc prédicteur sélectionné pour le bloc actuel ; et à coder, dans un train de bits vidéo codé, une représentation du vecteur.
