Abstract

The present application relates to a method of encoding a floating- point depth value of a pixel of a picture according to a bit-depth. The pixel is obtained by projecting a point of a 3D scene onto said picture. If the point is a non-contour pixel, then, the quantization function is defined on a first range depending on a first value lower than the bit- depth. Otherwise, the quantization function is defined on a second range depending on a second value greater than the bit-depth; and the value is encoded in association with the first value and an offset value associated with the picture.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de codage d'une valeur de profondeur à virgule flottante d'un pixel d'une image en fonction d'une profondeur de bit. Le pixel est obtenu par projection d'un point d'une scène 3D sur ladite image. Si le point est un pixel qui n'est pas du contour, alors la fonction de quantification est définie sur une première plage en fonction d'une première valeur inférieure à la profondeur de bit. Sinon, la fonction de quantification est définie sur une deuxième plage en fonction d'une deuxième valeur supérieure à la profondeur de bit ; et la valeur est codée en association avec la première valeur et une valeur de décalage associée à l'image.
