A thermoforming system for forming a cushioning pod structure that includes a first and a second thermoforming station with each comprised of a film holder and a thermoforming mold holder. The system implements a thermal source that is moveable between the first thermoforming station and the second thermoforming station such that the film holders are between the thermal source and the respective thermoforming mold holder. The system also relies on intentional application of a vacuum source fluidly coupled to thermoforming stations and a movement mechanism configured to move the thermal source between the first thermoforming station and the second thermoforming station. Additional aspects contemplate the implementation of a positive pressure source to aid in the dislodgment of the formed portion, a cooling system to adjust mold temperatures, and/or a fan to efficiently thermoform the component.

La présente invention concerne un système de thermoformage pour former une structure de coque d'amortissement qui comprend un premier et un second poste de thermoformage constitués chacun d'un support de film et d'un support de moule de thermoformage. Le système utilise une source thermique qui est mobile entre le premier poste de thermoformage et le second poste de thermoformage de telle sorte que les supports de film se trouvent entre la source thermique et le support de moule de thermoformage respectif. Le système repose également sur l'application intentionnelle d'une source de vide accouplée de manière fluidique à des postes de thermoformage et d'un mécanisme de déplacement conçu pour déplacer la source thermique entre le premier poste de thermoformage et le second poste de thermoformage. Selon des aspects supplémentaires, la présente invention concerne l'utilisation d'une source de pression positive pour faciliter le déplacement de la partie formée, d'un système de refroidissement pour ajuster des températures de moule et/ou d'un ventilateur pour thermoformer efficacement le composant.
