Provided is a polytetrafluoroethylene production method including a step in which tetrafluoroethylene and a modified monomer are polymerized in an aqueous medium in the presence of a hydrocarbon-based surfactant and polytetrafluoroethylene is obtained. The amount of hydrocarbon-based surfactant at the start of polymerization is more than 50 ppm relative to the aqueous medium. The polytetrafluoroethylene production method is characterized by the polytetrafluoroethylene including a polymer unit on the basis of at least 99.0% by mass tetrafluoroethylene and a polymer unit on the basis of no more than 1.0% by mass of the modified monomer.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production de polytétrafluoroéthylène comprenant une étape dans laquelle du tétrafluoroéthylène et un monomère modifié sont polymérisés dans un milieu aqueux en présence d'un tensioactif hydrocarboné et du polytétrafluoroéthylène est obtenu. La quantité de tensioactif hydrocarboné au début de la polymérisation est supérieure à 50 ppm par rapport au milieu aqueux. Le procédé de production de polytétrafluoroéthylène est caractérisé en ce que le polytétrafluoroéthylène comprend une unité polymère sur la base d'au moins 99,0 % en masse de tétrafluoroéthylène et une unité polymère sur la base de pas plus de 1,0 % en masse du monomère modifié.

炭化水素系界面活性剤の存在下に、水性媒体中でテトラフルオロエチレン及び変性モノマーを重合することによりポリテトラフルオロエチレンを得る重合工程を含み、重合開始時の炭化水素系界面活性剤の量が、水性媒体に対して50ppm超であり、前記ポリテトラフルオロエチレンは、99.0質量%以上のテトラフルオロエチレンに基づく重合単位と、1.0質量%以下の変性モノマーに基づく重合単位を含むことを特徴とするポリテトラフルオロエチレンの製造方法を提供する。
