Systems, apparatus and methods for desalination of ocean water using gravity force are described. One example method of desalinating ocean water includes providing a structure having a reverse osmosis membrane affixed to a first end, submerging the structure to a depth in a reservoir of salt water, wherein the depth is a function of a critical pressure of activation of operation of the reverse osmosis membrane, allowing a hydrostatic pressure at the depth to force salt water from the reservoir through the reverse osmosis membrane to cause fresh water to accumulate within a cavity on an inside of the structure; and making the fresh water available for an external use.

L'invention concerne des systèmes, un appareil et des procédés de dessalement de l'eau océanique à l'aide de la force de gravité. Un exemple de procédé de dessalement de l'eau océanique consiste à fournir une structure ayant une membrane d'osmose inverse fixée à une première extrémité, à immerger la structure à une certaine profondeur dans un réservoir d'eau salée, la profondeur étant en fonction d'une pression critique d'activation du fonctionnement de la membrane d'osmose inverse, à permettre à une pression hydrostatique en profondeur de forcer l'eau salée du réservoir à travers la membrane d'osmose inverse pour amener de l'eau douce à s'accumuler à l'intérieur d'une cavité à l'intérieur de la structure ; et à rendre l'eau douce disponible pour une utilisation externe.
