Abstract

Fiber tows including a heat-activatable sizing are described. The sizing compositions have a first modulus at 25 °C of at least 150 megapascals (MPa) and no greater than 400 MPa; and a second modulus of 100,000 pascals (Pa) at a temperature of no greater than 160 °C. Methods of preparing articles from such sized fiber tows and the articles comprising such sized fiber tows, including unidirectional and bidirectional constructions are also described.

L'invention concerne des faisceaux de fibres comprenant un dimensionnement activable par la chaleur. Les compositions de dimensionnement ont un premier module à 25 °C d'au moins 150 mégapascals (MPa) et d'un maximum de 400 MPa ; et un second module de 100 000 pascals (Pa) à une température ne dépassant pas 160 °C. L'invention concerne également des procédés de préparation d'articles à partir de tels faisceaux de fibres dimensionnés et des articles comprenant de tels faisceaux de fibres dimensionnés, y compris des constructions unidirectionnelles et bidirectionnelles.
