Abstract

A textile sleeve for protecting an elongated member comprises a tubular body, made from a woven or braided fiberglass yam, having an inner surface and an outer surface. A coating adheres to the outer surface providing heat resistance to said tubular body. The coating is a silicone rubber containing phenyl partially disposed therein. According to one aspect, the silicone rubber is a phenyl containing polysiloxane. According to another aspect, the silicone rubber has a formula of R-SiO3/2 wherein R includes phenyl and oxygen or R consists of phenyl and oxygen. The tubular body has a heat resistance of at least 550°C. A method of making the textile sleeve is also disclosed herein.

Un manchon textile permettant de protéger un élément allongé comprend un corps tubulaire constitué d'un fil de fibre de verre tissé ou tressé et ayant une surface interne et une surface externe. Un revêtement adhère à la surface externe, ce qui assure une résistance à la chaleur audit corps tubulaire. Le revêtement est un caoutchouc de silicone contenant un phényle partiellement disposé dans celui-ci. Selon un aspect, le caoutchouc de silicone est un phényle contenant un polysiloxane. Selon un autre aspect, le caoutchouc de silicone a pour formule R-SiO3/2, où R contient un phényle et de l'oxygène ou R est constitué d'un phényle et d'oxygène. Le corps tubulaire a une résistance à la chaleur d'au moins 550 °C. L'invention concerne également un procédé de fabrication du manchon textile.
