Described are compositions and methods relating to phosphotransacetylase (PTA) genes that improve ethanol production in yeast harboring an engineered PKL pathway, and yeast expressing these PTA genes. Such yeast is particularly useful for large-scale ethanol production from starch substrates, where acetate in an undesirable by-product.

L'invention concerne des compositions et des procédés se rapportant à des gènes de phosphotransacétylase (PTA) qui améliorent la production d'éthanol dans une levure hébergeant une voie PKL modifiée et une levure exprimant ces gènes de PTA. Une telle levure est particulièrement utile pour la production d'éthanol à grande échelle à partir de substrats d'amidon, où l'acétate est un sous-produit non souhaité.
