Systems and methods are described herein for manufacturing and using roofing membranes that are faster and easier to install than conventional adhesive-only membrane materials. In some embodiments, membrane materials are surface treated using a plasma flow, e.g., a blown-arc plasma flow, atmospheric plasma, corona plasma, or from portable plasma units, generated by passing a compressed plasma-generating gas through an electrical current to form the plasma-treated roofing membrane. The plasma treatments described herein may be applied as part of the manufacturing process, or in-situ at the site of roof installation. In some embodiments, membrane materials have surface chemistries, roughnesses and other surface characteristics that yield desired adhesion properties.

L'invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés de fabrication et d'utilisation de membranes de toiture qui sont plus rapides et plus faciles à installer que des matériaux de membrane uniquement adhésifs classiques. Dans certains modes de réalisation, des matériaux de membrane sont traités en surface au moyen d'un flux de plasma, par exemple un flux de plasma à arc soufflé, un plasma atmosphérique, un plasma à effet corona ou à partir d'unités de plasma portatives générées par le passage d'un gaz de génération de plasma comprimé à travers un courant électrique afin de former la membrane de toiture traitée au plasma. Les traitements au plasma décrits ici peuvent être appliqués en tant que partie du processus de fabrication ou in-situ au niveau du site d'installation de toit. Dans certains modes de réalisation, des matériaux de membrane présentent des produits chimiques de surface, des rugosités et d'autres caractéristiques de surface qui confèrent des propriétés d'adhérence souhaitées.
