Embodiments described herein provide for system and methods to crowdsource the location of wireless devices and accessories that lack a connection to a wide area network. One embodiment provides for a data processing system configured to perform operations comprising loading a user interface on an electronic device, the user interface to enable the determination of a location of a wireless accessory that is associated with the electronic device, generating a set of public keys included within a signal broadcast by the wireless accessory, the signal broadcast during a first period, sending the set of public keys to a server with a request to return data that corresponds with a public key in the set of public keys, decrypting the location data using a private key associated with the public key, and processing the location data to determine a probable location for the wireless accessory.

Des modes de réalisation de la présente invention concernent un système et des procédés d’externalisation ouverte pour localiser des dispositifs sans fil et des accessoires qui n’ont pas de connexion à un réseau étendu. Un mode de réalisation concerne un système de traitement de données configuré pour réaliser des opérations comprenant : le chargement d’une interface utilisateur sur un dispositif électronique, l’interface utilisateur permettant la détermination d’un emplacement d’un accessoire sans fil qui est associé au dispositif électronique ; la génération d’un ensemble de clés publiques incluses dans une diffusion de signaux par l’accessoire sans fil, la diffusion de signaux ayant lieu durant une première période ; l’envoi de l’ensemble de clés publiques à un serveur avec une demande de renvoyer des données qui correspondent à une clé publique dans l’ensemble de clés publiques ; le déchiffrement des données d’emplacement à l’aide d’une clé privée associée à la clé publique ; et le traitement des données d’emplacement pour déterminer un emplacement probable pour l’accessoire sans fil.
